Join MenTELL.ca for June’s Men’s Mental Health Month Campaign:

Break the Silence and Celebrate Wellness

As May comes to a close, we’re gearing up for a powerful and transformative June. Men’s Mental Health Month is upon us, and we at CanadianPodcast.ca are thrilled to announce the launch of MenTELL.ca’s campaign for the second year in a row. This initiative aims to break the silence, encourage open conversations, and celebrate our mental health and wellness every day.

Why Men’s Mental Health Matters

Mental health is a crucial aspect of our overall well-being, yet it’s often neglected, especially among men. Statistics show that men are less likely to seek help for mental health issues, leading to alarming rates of depression and suicide. It’s time to change that narrative. We believe that by sharing our stories and supporting each other, we can create a positive shift in how men approach mental health.

Canadian Men’s Mental Health Statistics

  • Suicide Rates: In Canada, 75% of those who die by suicide are men. This stark statistic highlights the urgent need for mental health awareness and support among men. (Source: Canadian Mental Health Association)
  • Help-Seeking Behavior: Only 30% of men who experience depression or anxiety will seek professional help. This reluctance to seek support can lead to worsening symptoms and serious consequences. (Source: Statistics Canada)
  • Stress Levels: According to a survey, 72% of men report experiencing significant stress, yet less than half reach out for help. This indicates a critical gap in mental health support for men. (Source: Canadian Men’s Health Foundation)
  • Depression Rates: 1 in 10 Canadian men will experience major depression in their lives. This statistic underscores the importance of mental health awareness and intervention. (Source: Mood Disorders Society of Canada)

The MenTELL.ca Campaign

Starting June 1, 2024, we’re inviting men from all walks of life to join our MenTELL.ca campaign. It’s simple yet impactful: we want you to record a short video of yourself sharing a favorite quote, activity, book, or song that helps you with your mental health. Tell us what you do to switch your mindset around when times get tough. Tag @MenTELL.ca on Instagram and use the hashtag #MenTELLHealth to spread the word and inspire others.

How You Can Participate

  1. Record Your Video: Share a personal story, a quote that inspires you, an activity that boosts your mood, a book that gives you strength, or a song that lifts your spirits.
  2. Tag and Collaborate: Tag @MenTELL.ca on Instagram and invite others to join the movement. Use the hashtag #MenTELLHealth to connect with a community of men supporting each other.
  3. Spread the Word: Encourage your friends, family, and colleagues to participate. The more voices we have, the stronger our message will be.

The Power of Sharing

By sharing your experiences, you’re not only helping yourself but also others who may be struggling in silence. Your story could be the key that unlocks someone else’s prison. Together, we can create a supportive environment where men feel empowered to speak up and seek help.

Celebrate Every Day

While June is a special month for raising awareness, we want to emphasize that every day is a day to celebrate our mental health. Let’s make it a habit to check in with ourselves and those around us. Small acts of kindness, open conversations, and a supportive community can make a world of difference.
